ELOISE HARRIET STANNARD (INGLATERRA, 1829-1915)
CANASTA CON FLORES Y NIDO.
Eloise Harriet Stannard was a British painter who was born in 1829. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'Still life of fruit, a bullfinch and a butterfly; and Still life of fruit on a silver salver with a jug' sold at Christie's King Street 'British Pictures 1500-1850' in 2006 for $39,792. The artist died in 1914.
An oil painting by Eloise Stannard, one of the Norwich School of Painters, has been sold for £40,000.
The picture shows three pieces of the historic Norwich Civic Regalia Silver and was painted in 1869.
"This stunning picture is one of the best quality paintings we've handled in our 40 years," said Roy Murphy from Keys auction house in Aylsham.
The painting was sold to a private bidder but Keys has confirmed that it will remain in Norfolk.
The painting was sold by Roy Benton, one of five siblings to inherit the painting from their late father, also called Roy.
"Apparently Eloise Harriet Stannard could be seen walking down Elm Hill carrying pieces of the Regalia she was loaned to paint," said Roy Benton.

"These are some of the most important pieces of silver in the country. Norwich has one of the finest collections of civic regalia. It's extraordinary," he added.
